Most of EcoFair has been designed to mobilize conservation action through restoration efforts and education. The Evening Gala Fundraiser, however, has been planned as an evening of networking and celebration. It is a chance to enjoy local food and drink while engaging with a community of conservation-minded people against the backdrop of Sea Star, one of the Gulf Island’s only wineries.

Evening schedule

Doors open at 7PM and we encourage you to wear your Sunday best! Guests will be invited to explore the space, spending time indoors or in the crisp fall air on the patio under the protection of tents in the likely event of October rain. Wine made locally on site will be available for purchase, with each attendee being entitled to one half price wine tasting, graciously provided by Sea Star as a key sponsor of EcoFair weekend. Nibbles from local purveyors will be freely available for enjoyment throughout the evening.

A program of storytelling with Faye Mogensen and the musical stylings of Lester Quitzau will begin at 7:30PM extending until 9:30PM.

Kim Pollard’s untitled painting will be on display at Sea Star throughout the month of October. Valued at over $6,000.00, a silent auction will be open during the Evening Gala Fundraiser with a minimum starting bid of $500. The auction winner will be announced before the end of the event.

About the talent

Painter Kim Pollard is dedicated to the exploration of Canada’s western provinces, from coastal shores to the Rockies, the prairies, and beyond. She is based on Pender Island. Quiet in her outwardly expression, Kim expresses herself nostalgically through a visual language of beauty and hope in her paintings.

Faye Mogensen is a resident of South Pender Island. She discovered storytelling when working as a Park Interpreter in 1981. Ten years later she completed a Masters of Education focused on storytelling as a tool for environmental change. Recently she’s been honing her skills in international online circles. She continues to perform wherever listeners gather, sharing both traditional and personal stories.

Lester Quitzau is a Juno Award winning Canadian roots music artist with an international following. He is a guitarist, singer, songwriter, composer, and producer. His unique style and fluidity on slide, acoustic and electric guitars, coupled with his well crafted songs and warm vocals, are the fruits of a decades-long musical journey.

*EcoFair is a pay-what-you-can weekend; however, some individual events require purchase. All monies raised from the sale of event tickets will go towards the purchase and permanent protection of KELÁ_EKE Kingfisher Forest.
