About the Conservancy

Incorporated in 1993, Pender Islands Conservancy Association is the oldest environmental group on Pender. 

​​Incorporated in 1993, Pender Islands Conservancy Association is the oldest environmental group on Pender. The Conservancy was created when community members saw an urgent need for an organization that would champion land protection on the islands and rallied community support to create the registered charity. The Pender Islands Conservancy Association is a registered land trust and a member of the Land Trust Alliance of BC.

Vision to 2030

Our vision for Pender Island is that by 2030 it will be a model of community-driven conservation where:

  • 30% or more of the island’s land and freshwater ecosystems are permanently protected through diverse conservation techniques.

  • An increasing number of community members are deeply engaged in conservation through stewardship programs, restoration projects and education.

  • The Conservancy is financially sustainable with the professional capacity to deliver on our mission.​​
