Pender Islands Conservancy is the steward of several nature sanctuaries. Unlike parks, created for hiking and other recreational activities, nature sanctuaries are set aside for wildlife.

​Parks and sanctuaries are both essential on Pender Island, but play different roles. Parks provide us an opportunity to connect directly with nature through trails, observation and exploration. Sanctuaries give refuge to plants and animals that need undisturbed places to thrive.
