About the Event
PEPAKEṈ HÁUTW̱ Foundation is based on the Saanich peninsula and focuses on land-based learning that incorporates W̱SÁNEĆ natural laws.
A partnership between Tsawout First Nation and PEPAKEṈ HÁUTW̱ enables ecosystem restoration and protects Indigenous cultural heritage at QENENIW̱, a significant village site and reef net location.
By restoring and healing the land together, PEPAKEṈ HÁUTW̱ hopes the Pender community will be inspired to support the return of native plants across the W̱SÁNEĆ homelands. This hands-on learning activity offers a chance to participate in the physical act of decolonizing the land while also generating habitat for native species to thrive across the W̱SÁNEĆ homelands.
We will be removing Daphne laurel and working on uneven terrain, If physical work is not the best way to contribute, please consider donating a snack for the volunteers!
