About the Event

It is that time of year again when we prepare the Hope Bay Stream for the Chum Salmon to return in November. The weirs we built last year survived the winter rains so all that is required is to reinforce them with some larger rock and add some spawning gravel.  The rock and gravel is being delivered by Pender Recycle the second week of September.

We are looking for 6 to 10 healthy volunteers to fill wheelbarrows and place the rock in the stream.  We plan to do this FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 15TH, from 9am until noon, or maybe finishing later, depending how many volunteers we have.  Weather permitting, of course.

You will need gloves and sturdy footwear. Bring your favourite spade shovel if you have one.  Let me know if you can bring a wheelbarrow, although we may have enough.

Contact us at info@penderconservancy.org if you are interested in participating.
