About the Event

We’re off to the big island to say farewell to some of the thousands of turkey vultures who kettle high in the sky above the park each fall, waiting for just the right weather conditions to assist them in their challenging migration across the Strait of Juan de Fuca.


East Sooke Regional Park is also home to a diverse array of birds that we’re sure to encounter as we walk the trails and explore the beautiful bluffs.


This is a full-day excursion. We’ll be catching the early ferry and returning to Pender in the evening. There will be opportunities to bird from the ferry, get to know one another better and perhaps even suss out some local birding hotspots on the way home.


If inclement weather causes turkey vultures to wait for another day, we’ll divert to other, rich birding locations in Sooke, Esquimalt and the Greater Victoria area to…
